MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body.

We do most routine and advanced MRI studies, including:

  • Breast MRI

  • MRI-Guided Breast Biopsy

  • Complete abdominal, breast, pelvic and musculo-skeletal imaging

  • Complete neuro imaging including diffusion

  • MR Venography

  • MR Angiography

  • MRCP (pancreatic imaging)

For some MRI studies, a contrast material called gadolinium may be injected into a vein to help improve the information seen on the MRI images.  A gadolinium-based contrast agent does not contain iodine and therefore rarely causes an allergic reaction or other problems.

However, if you have a history of kidney disease, kidney failure, kidney transplant, liver disease, or other conditions you must inform us before receiving gadolinium. Gadolinium is cleared from your system in approximately 24 hours.
